MDC Youth Assembly Hails Suspension of Senior Party Members

The Douglas Mwonzora led MDC youth assembly has hailed the recent suspension of seven senior party members saying they will not tolerate any form of indiscipline within their midst.

Former party vice president Engineer Elias Mudzuri and six others were suspended on allegations of causing disturbances during the party’s recent elective congress held in the capital

They also face charges of taking the party to court, colluding with forces hostile to the party, convening unsanctioned meetings as well as undermining the party’s democratic processes.

In a statement, MDC national youth secretary for information and publicity Lethuuhle Ndlovu said as the party vanguard, the assembly is monitoring the situation.

“The MDC Youth Assembly welcomes the suspension of Senator Elias Mudzuri and others on various allegations ranging from convening unsanctioned meetings to dragging the party through the courts without exhausting the available internal remedies, thereby breaching certain sections of the party Constitution.

“As the vanguard of the party, the Youth Assembly is closely following these developments and will not tolerate any form of indiscipline as well as rouge elements within our midst. The party, through relevant organs must take all the necessary steps to ensure that these cases are dealt with expeditiously.

“We spent most of our time as party last year concentrating on internal issues and any attempts to drag us back into that same mode will be resisted and thwarted with all possible haste. Our focus right now should he coming together for total victory in the forthcoming elections and we expect everyone to be pulling on the same direction as well as complimenting the party and President’s vision,” said Ndlovu

Ndlovu said anyone who tries to destabilize the party will be promptly dealt with in accordance with the dictates of our party Constitution.

“The party must never hesitate to set aside any individual who tries to get in the way of progress. The Youth Assembly is observing strict vigilance in monitoring the behavior of those on suspension and will not hesitate to recommend appropriate action in the interests of the party,” Ndlovu added
