Harare West Member of Parliament Joanna Mamombe, who was arrested on Tuesday, has been accused of rigging her way to victory in last year’s elections.
The youthful politician was brought to court yesterday where she appeared before Harare magistrate Francis Mapfumo facing charges of violating the Electoral Act.
The state alleges that Mamombe provided a false address to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) before last year’s elections to allow her to contest in the elections.
She was, however, released on $100 bail and the matter was remanded to June 25 for trial.
