FC Platinum head coach Norman Mapeza says his team is approaching the tie against Angolan giants Deportivo Lero Agosto,in the preliminary round of the 2018 Total CAF Champions League with caution.

The Zimbabwean Champions will be appearing for the second time at Africa’s biggest Inter-Club competition.

Addressing the media yesterday before departure for Angola, Mapeza said they are going to approach the game with extra caution but will also be respecting their opponents.

“We are very cautious going into this game and reports that we are going to be open for attack for the game are lies, I have a lot of years in this industry and I know how to handle such kind of situations and they are critical and they need a wise mind.

“I had an opportunity to watch our opponents playing their league games, they are a very good side and we need to approach the game in a different manner.

“I have been talking to my boys the importance of these African safari games and they are excited, but they know what the challenge they are going to face on Sunday.

“We need to go and do our best and come back home with a result which is the most important thing and I think it’s a blessing in disguise to start away,” he said.

He however, warned the nation to stop comparing his team to former champions , Caps United , who defied odd to progress to the group stages after navigating their way past former African champions , TP Mazembe last year.

“What Caps did is good for the country, it’s good for our game, but their performance will not be a barometer for us. We just want to go and do our best, it’s our objective to reach the group stage, but we are not going out there to try and surpass what Caps did. Football differs with every game and we just want to do our best and see where it takes us,” said Mapeza.
