Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn (MKD) President, Dr Simba Makoni cautioned youths not to mortgage their future on the altar of pecuniary rewards from desperate politicians seeking political power at all cost.
The warning follows a sharp increase in politically motivated violence over the last three weeks.
Writing on his twitter page, Dr Makoni said youths are being used to settle political scores and by so doing they are being turned into perpetrators of political violence.
‘The perpetrators, and the victims of the violence, are young people, ostensibly at the instigation of older people, called leaders,” said Dr Makoni.
The former Zanu PF politburo member, who broke ranks with Mugabe in 2007 to form MKD,labelled youths who are being used to settle political scores as failures.
My first message is..`if you have to beat people up, for them to follow or support you' then you are a failure.

Second message is to the youth of Zimbabwe. No one is worth beating, maiming or killing others for.

Dr Makoni, who is also the former minister of finance said political violence is barbaric and a sign of desperation.
The violence is committed in pursuit of political objectives, centred around keeping, or taking up leadership positions.

No amount of money, super chibuku, t-shirts, wrap-arounds, proximity to a chef or other rewards justifies the risk of jail.
