Mahofa battling for life

Masvingo minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Shuvai Mahofa is reportedly fighting for her life at an unnamed hospital in South Africa, Radiovop has reported.

Mahofa, a staunch Zanu PF Veteran who successfully ousted, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, is purported to have fallen sick after consuming food which is said to have been poisoned at  the 15th Zanu PF conference which was held in Victoria Falls last year.

One of Mahofa’s family members told Radio VOP that the once potent Mahofa, who has never been in office since the beginning of the year, is struggling with a non-functional kidney as result of food poisoning.

“Mahofa is currently in South Africa where she is receiving treatment since Zimbabwean doctors have done less to see her regain her health,” he said.

“The doctors told us that she was affected by food poisoning leading to the malfunction of one of her kidneys.

“There is a lot of improvement,” he added.

“The kidney which is failed was full of water, but the water is being drained. She will be well in a few weeks.”

However, a senior Zanu PF member from the province said Mahofa has been ill since her appointment as Minister.

He said Mahova’s ailments were however associated with old age which saw her last year failing to attend most crucial events which demanded her presence as the province’s top governing authority.

Apart from illness, Mahofa is in the eye of the storm after Masvingo Women’s league chair person, Veronica Makonese told the first lady that Mahofa was in involved in corrupt activities and that she was the one who looted Bona’s wedding gifts last year.
