Zimbabwe’s oldest cricket tournament Logan Cup is set to resume on January 17 amid speculation that the tournament had come to an abrupt end following reports that Zimbabwe Cricket and players had failed to reach an agreement over salaries.
In a statement released by the local cricket motherboard, all is set for the resumption of the Logan Cup with all the four franchises taking to the field.
Zimbabwe Cricket (Zc) public Relations Officer Darlington Majonga revealed that all was set for the resumption of the tournament, contrary to media reports that the tournament had been forced off the crease following an impasse between the local cricket motherboard and the players.
“Contrary to some media reports, all is set for the second round of Zimbabwe’s domestic first-class competition, the Logan Cup, which gets underway this coming Tuesday,” said Majonga.
Majonga added that the four day series cup resumes with a full-fledged line up of fixtures that will see all the four franchises taking to the field.
“All the teams are raring to go after an unfortunate misunderstanding over provincial salaries had resulted in the disruption of the first-round match between Tuskers and Rhinos at Queens Sports Club in December,” confirmed the Zc Public Relations Officer.

The second round of fixtures will see Harare Metropolitan Eagles hosting Midlands rhinos a Harare Sports Club while Bulawayo Metropolitan Tuskers make a long trip to Mutare for a date with Manicaland Mountaineers.
The Logan Cup was suspended in December after a misunderstanding between Zc and franchise contracted players over December salaries.
