The international community has joined Zimbabwe in cerebrating a historic moment in which the country witnessed the swearing in of Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa as new President after 37 years of Robert Mugabe’s oppressive reign.
Many have expressed optimism over Zimbabwe’s fortunes, with global leaders pledging support to Zimbabwe’s new government and wishing Cde. ED Mnangagwe well in his journey of leading a country which is desperate for economic revival.
Some applauded Zimbabweans for staging the first ever peaceful coup in the history of this world, in which the people marched peacefully and did not see any bloodshed or infrastructure destruction.
Congratulations to our newly appointed President Cde Emmerson #Mnangagwa. We pray that the Almighty guide you to make the best decisions for the people of #Zimbabwe. We pray for a turnaround in the economy and positive growth in all spheres of life. #freshstart #Zimbabwe pic.twitter.com/SKDepfrmV5

A change, as good as a rest
Congrats to #Zimbabwe for taking a step forward.
Hope you”ll have a #currency soon. I remember in 1990s in Harare, trying to get 4Zim$ instead of 3.5 to US$

Mnangagwa balances party interests, anti-colonial struggle, governance failure & future hope in nuanced inaugural address but changing a culture of authoritarianism & cronyism an immense challenge. #Zimbabwe

It’s absolutely incredible that, in a world rife with violence, greed, and war, Zimbabwe has pulled off a peaceful coup to overthrow an extremely powerful leader!! #zimbabwe????????
