Litmus test for Dynamos,Highlanders

The Castle Lager premiership enters week 11 with a blockbuster of matches lined up this weekend.

By Elia Ntali

The matches will kick off this Friday with Chapungu hosting How Mine at Gweru’s Ascot Stadium in one of the three matches to be beamed live on SuperSport.

Chapungu will be oozing with confidence following their away win at Border Strikers while the gold miners will be hoping to put behind their 2-0 loss to log leaders Highlanders.

Prediction: A draw is most likely.

On Saturday Triangle will make the trip to Mandava Stadium for a date with Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum. The hosts who suffered a shock defeat to ZPC Kariba at the same venue will certainly come up guns blazing against David Mandigora’s ‘sugar boys’ who also suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Hwange.

Prediction: A win for FC Platinum.

It will be a battle of debutants when Ngezi Platinum play hosts to Border Strikers at Baobab Stadium and interestingly both teams come into the match after suffering defeats in their last outings.

Ngezi lost to Dynamos 2-0 while Border Strikers lost 2-1 to Chapungu. Ngezi have hired the services of former Dynamos mentor Tonderai Ndiraya in their quest to revive their shattering dreams and with an array of stars in their squad a victory is more likely but with few goals.

Tsholotsho will play Chicken Inn at White City Stadium and both teams have of late been struggling, however it will be a different ball game as they seek to restore their campaign and for the defending champions Chicken Inn who are now under the tutelage of Rahman Gumbo they would want to ensure that their status as League champions last season was no fluke.

Prediction: Another draw is in the making.

In what promises to be the pick of the day a rejuvenated Harare City will player former champions Dynamos at Rufaro and what makes it interesting is that the Sunshine boys are now under the guidance of Dynamos legend Moses Chunga.

Dynamos have of late been playing well following a turbulent start to the season in which they had not won a home match until last weekend’s 2-0 win over newboys Ngezi Platinum.

Chunga has been in charge for two games which he has won. Cities are one of the best assembled teams in the country and victory over Dembare will be fitting for them.

Prediction: Either team can win.

On Sunday high riding Highlanders are at home to ZPC Kariba in what promises to be a tricky match for the log leaders.

Highlanders have emerged as one of the favourites to the championship following a string of good results while ZPC Kariba have also been posting impressive results both at home and away.

This match will surely go to the wire and chances are that both teams will settle for a draw.

Caps United will host Bulawayo City at the National Sports Stadium hoping to continue with their fine form in which they are second on the log standings.

For Bulawayo City they will have to be at their best to outwit the green machine but will take some courage in the fact that their opponents have been finding it difficult especially at home.

Prediction: A win for Caps United is likely.

Hwange will host Mutare City Rovers at the Colliery in what promises to be an easy encounter for the coalminers.

Prediction: Hwange win.
