Wellington Makamure launched his career as a Senior Telecommunications Engineer in the President's Office in 1982 before exiting government in 1989 to join Siemens Mobile Zimbabwe in the same year. In 1993 he moved to join Chloride Zimbabwe as the company's Business Development and Marketing Manager.
