Let Not Enermies Tell Us How To Remember Mugabe: Malema

Julius Malema

As memes and jokes around the late revolutionary icon, Robert Mugabe’s death flood social media, South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has riled Africans to protect Mugabe’s legacy and remember his great works.

The outspoken opposition leader made the remarks in his condolence message on Twitter where he also urged fellow Africans not to let “enemies” author Mugabe’s history.

“I’m saddened by the passing of our martyr & giant of the African Revolution cde President Robert Mugabe. Let’s continue the fight & protect his legacy. We must not allow our enemies to tell us how to remember him; we know our heroes. May his soul rest in revolutionary peace,” wrote Malema.

Mugabe died earlier today at a Singapore hospital. He headed the country from 18 April 1980 until November 2017 when he was toppled in a military inspired transition that replaced him with his long-time ally President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
