Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa has yet another mountain to climb as he faces Comoros with his ill-prepared charges in an Africa Nations Championship preliminary round, first leg qualifier at Rufaro stadium on Sunday.
With only a few days left the Warrior called up for national duty are still trooping into camp and they conducted their first training session yesterday at Rufaro stadium.
Despite the Warriors having an advantage that the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League is on a two weeks break and most of the players are available to face Comoros.
The Warriors’ last assignment they travelled at the very last minute and defied all odds when they manage to dismiss Malawi 2-1 in their opening African Cup of Nations, L qualifier last weekend.
CHAN competition is a second tier continental competition which is only open to players plying in their domestic leagues.
The former Dynamos gaffer has indicated that all the locally based players who travelled to Malawi are expected for the CHAN match while he will ropes in a number players in a number of players from the Under-23 squad.
“We included mostly the Under-23s who were around to beef up the CHAN squad and we included a few number of senior players drawn from our local to add experience in the youngsters.
“We gave first priority to the Under-23s and the locally based players who went to Malawi are certainly in the CHAN squad,” revealed Pasuwa.
Pasuwa retained six of the locally-based players John Takwara, Danny Phiri, Teenage Hadebe, Donavan Benard, Justice Jangano and Tatenda Mukuruva – who travelled to Malawi and are expected in camp.
Amongst the players who trained consist of mainly the players who did the duty for the national Unnder-23 last month as well as Cosafa tournament.
