Kadewere’s Solitary Strike Sinks Neymar’s PSG

Zimbabwe International Tinotenda Kadewere scored the only goal as Olympique Lyon beat French league champions Paris Saint Germain at the Parc des Princes yesterday.

Kadewere who is enjoying a purple patch at Lyon latched on to a through pass from Cameroonian international Karl Toko Ekambi in the 35th minute to drill the ball past Keylor Navas finding the bottom right corner.

Keylor Navas had on the 23rd minute saved well an acrobatic volley from Kadewere which was subsequently called back for offside.

The goal, his fifth of the campaign steered Lyon to the top of the league where they are joint leaders with Lille on 29 points. This was Lyon’s first win in Paris in 14 attempts. The last time they collected maximum points at PSG was way back in October 2007 when Lyon won 3-2.

Taunted to play cameo roles at Lyon following his summer arrival from Le Havre AC, Kadewere has made himself impossible for team manager Rudi Garcia to drop as he has proved that he is ruthless in front of goal.

Lyon are unbeaten in their last 10 games winning 6 and drawing 4 their best run since February-May 2018 where they went on 11 games without defeat.
