Citizens Coalition for Change leader and Mkoba Member of Parliament Amos Chibaya has been arrested in Gweru this morning charged with addressing an unsanctioned meeting.
According to the warned and cautioned statement signed by Chibaya, he is being accused of addressing a meeting on 30 April 2022 without notifying the regulating authority as required by the Maintanence of Peace Act (MOPA).
“…failing to give notice of a procession contravening Section 7(5) of Maintenance of peace act where it is alleged that on 30/04/2022 and at Gwindigwi Mountains, Charandura you addressed a CCC (Citizens Coalition for Change) meeting without notifying the regulating authority as required by the act shall make this statement of your own free will,” reads part of the warned and cautioned statement.
Meanwhile, CCC Spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said Chibaya never convened the alleged meeting.
