The policy officer for economic affairs is responsible for policy development and implementation, analysis and advice, as well as some degree of project management. You will have at least five years relevant economic working experience, preferably in an international setting.

Call for Consultancy – Baseline Assessment and Call Centre Software Upgrade – Youth Helpline Zimbabwe

Youth Advocates is a DREAMS Innovation Challenge winner and has been awarded a two-year grant for six districts (Bulawayo, Gweru, Mazoe, Makoni, Mutare and Chipinge) focusing on Applying Data to increase program impact and HIV services uptake. The proposed solution will build on Youth Advocate’s-Youth Helpline platform to promote counselling and community-owned citizen engagement data collection mechanisms (citizen-generated data) through various platforms (e.g., SMS, phone calls or social media) to fill data gaps relevant to DREAMS at the local and sub-national levels. The project will use data visualizations from multiple sources and sectors to guide program implementation and platforms that enhance the capacity of institutions and civil society to use data in DREAMS districts.

  1. The Assignment

The consultant is expected to undertake a baseline assessment to measure the levels of uptake of SRH and HIV/AIDS services (layering) and opportunities for using IVR/SMS/Social media among adolescence girls and young women in complementing DREAMS partners, current data gaps for partners and develop a custom-made Call Centre Software to manage the Voice/SMS/Social media platform and visual applications for GEO service locator and real time data visualisation maps.

2.1 Purpose of the Baseline Assessment

The purpose of this assessment is to gather baseline data and customise ICT platforms that will support Youth Advocates with the implementation and evaluation of the project.

Receivables

  • Confirming payments made through the bank
  • Verifying payments under different tax heads
  • Extracting revenue reports from SAP and ASYCUDA
  • Checking in the system for any revenue mis-postings
  • Balancing receipts and cash according to tax heads
  • Balancing cash and bank credit slips according to currencies
  • Banking all revenue collections
  • Reporting all shortfalls or queries to the supervisor

Position: Finance Intern – Centre for Applied Legal Research (CALR)

The Administration and Finance department provides consistent support to all key departments within the organisation to ensure the achievement of overall objectives. The department ensures provision of adequate human and financial resources to all departments and also provides constant checks and balances to ensure the efficient use of resources. The Administration and Finance Department is currently in need of a Finance Intern to assist with the relevant proficiency.

Job summary

  • Managing and maintaining accounting records;
  • Reconciling bank statements with general ledger;
  • Maintaining accounting databases and processing backups;
  • Managing petty cash transactions;
  • Verifying invoice accuracy and prepare necessary documentation for payment;
  • Updating and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers and other records;
  • Preparation of Disbursement vouchers, Receipt vouchers, Accounting Journals, etc. and ensuring that they are ready for approval;
  • Reconciling the staff advance account(s) and ensure that all advances are liquidated timeously;
  • Assist with internal and external audits and ensure that they are successfully completed;
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly Payroll by ensuring that all staff members timeously complete accurate timesheets;
  • Administer staff leave days and ensure that all statutory returns are submitted before the due date(s);

Academic qualifications and requirements

Candidate must be above 18 years and studying towards an Accounting degree or a professional accounting qualification such as CIMA or ACCA. Candidates should have successfully completed diploma level of their qualification. Competence in MS Office is a must and conversant with Pastel or an accounting software shall be an added advantage. Candidate should be of high ethical standards, exhibit high standards of professionalism, excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
