The opposition MDC has dismissed as hogwash, claims by some sections of the media alleging that the party vice President Tendai Biti and deputy national chairperson Job Sikhala had organised flash demonstrations behind party leader Nelson Chamisa’s back due to growing discontent over his lack of way forward on economic problems facing the country.
According to the story, there is growing concern over lack of action from party leadership to push the government to address deteriorating economic situation in the country.
But party Spokesperson, Daniel Molokele said everyone in the leadership was aware of the flash protest held last week evening as the movement had drawn a line in the sand with regards to protests following the turning down of numerous requests for police clearance.
“Hogwash. Everyone in the leadership knows about these flash demos which are being organised by the party. We have collectively drawn a line in the sand as a leadership that henceforth we will not notify the police,” said Molokele.
He dismissed the story as works by some people intending to drive a wedge between party leadership.
“Someone thinks they can drive a wedge between the leadership through such silly stories when the whole leadership is duly behind 2020 being the Year of Action as announced by the people’s President whom is now being said to be fearful of the very action he personally announced.
“It is none other than President Chamisa who declared 2020 to be the year of Action so how can he be against that which he personally announced to the Nation? He was clear at last week’s presser that everyone throughout his provincial tours is fully behind action,” added Molokele.
Chamisa recently announced that his party had exhausted patience in dealing with police who often find excuses to refuse them clearance to hold their planned protests.
