Rising music star, Gary Tight has cleared the air on speculations that he is not seeing eye to eye with Jah Prayzah following an alleged altercation over performance slots at the Tuku Memorial concert held on Saturday last week.
At the concert attended by over 40 000 people who filled the giant National Sports Stadium, Jah Prayzah is believed to have robbed the Pakare Paye offshoot of his chance to perform as the late icon’s body left for 1 Commando barracks.
Speaking in an interview on Power FM, the “Ndizarurire” hitmaker said it was the gig promoters and not Jah Prayzah who sabotaged his rare moment to shine.
“I see Jah Prayzah as my elder brother and when I posted on social media complaining about what happened on Saturday I wasn’t referring to him. Jah Prayzah stood with me before no one recognized Gary tight. There was no show, back in the day, that I curtain raised for Jah Prayzah and got anything less than $250.
“I had been tipped by Tuku music management to perform my song “Ndizarurire” as Dr. Tuku’s body was being carried out of the National Sports Stadium. However, the show promoters probably did not see me worthy to grab that limelight,” he said.
Gary retraced his history to how and when the late Oliver Mtukudzi’s attention saying;
“Tuku noticed me as I was performing his late son’s song, “Cheziya” during Jah Prayzah’s “Kumbumura Mhute” album launch and so, yes! I have come a long way with Jah Prayzah,” said the Ndizarurire hitmaker.
He also disclosed his intentions to sit down and clear the air with the “Kutonga Kwaro” hitmaker.
“I have made plans to visit and sit with my elder brother so that we talk things out and clear the air,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jah Prayzah is on record saying he had no intentions of sabotaging the 24-year-old crooner.
“I see Gary as my younger brother and I would not do anything like that to betray my relationship with him.
I was just called to say it was my time to be on stage and I simply did as I had been told. I was not even aware of the fact that there were plans already for Gary,” he said.
Meanwhile Gary will be releasing his Tuku’s tribute song today.
