Castle Lager Premier Soccer League second half was off to a slow start as all the matches lined for the weekend manage to produce seven goals and a win for How Mine which saw them rising on the log-standing to third position with 29 points.
Chicken Inn are on top with 30, Triangle with 29, the same as How Mine, whilst Dynamos after their draw against Hwange dropped to 28 points and into fourth place.
How Mine pounced on struggling Buffaloes and a first half gem of a goal by Timothy January secured maximum points for the gold miners and with it third place position after dismissing Buffalos 1-0.
Dynamos failed to utilise the home advantage and they were held to a goalless draw by Hwange that saw them dropping on the log-standings to fourth place.
Dynamos coach David Mandigora was disappointed with the results as his charges failed to utilise the home advantage and win the game.
“When playing at home it’s not good enough to get one point, we should win when playing at home. I am disappointed with the results and the way we played.
“We created some chances in both the first and second half but we failed to convert them into goals,” said Mandigora.
However it was different story with Hwange gaffer Naiton Dube who was optimistic that his side will do better in the future.
“As long we keep playing like this we will eventually get wins. We need maximum points to get away from where we are on the log-standings,” revealed Dube.
The match between Triangle and Highlanders was exciting and evenly contested match that ended in a goalless at Gibbo stadium.
Highlanders come into the game more defensive in the opening minutes, a clear indication that they were avoiding to concede an early goal which cost them maximum points in the previous fixture at Barbourfields stadium.
Triangle coach Kelvin Kaindu was surprised that Bosso were celebrating a draw against them, but it was a different issue with Highlanders coach Bongani Mafu who was content with the results.
“This is football and teams have different objectives but it’s quite surprising that they are celebrating a draw against us,” said Kaindu.
“We should have finished the game in the first half; we created four chances but failed to convert them. It’s good that we managed to keep a clean sheet and l feel it’s high time we start collecting maximum points,” revealed Mafu.
Chicken Inn failed to utilise the home advantage and inflict revenge on CAPS United when they were held to a goalless draw in their own backyard.
The Gamecocks are still on top of the log-standing with 30 points whilst Triangle and How Mine are in hot pursuit with 29 points.
FC Platinum beat the visitors Chapungu 2 – 0 to register the biggest win of the Castle lager Premier Soccer League this weekend, whilst Dongo Sawmills held Whawha to a goalless draw.
Sunday Chidzambwa is yet to register a win for ZPC Kariba after he was appointed as head coach, when they were held to a goalless draw by Tsholotsho.
The match between Harare City and Flame Lily is the only match that produced more goals this weekend when the match ended in a two all stalemate.
