While strolling around the Harare Central Business District for the next episode of the now popular ‘Street Dialogue’, an elderly street vendor interrupted our business requesting to speak on camera.
Without bothering to know the topic of discussion, the berated vendor began narrating her heart rending ordeal on the daily challenges they face in their operations especially from police and other criminals who impersonate municipal officers fleecing them of their hard earned daily collections.
Below is the heartbreaking story of an elderly vendor who has to endure being harassed by municipal police. She narrates what vending means to her and the challenges she is facing in raising orphaned children in her custody.
