Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) has transformed the once seasonal Harare Exhibition park into a lively and all year round business hub housing offices, conferences, expo centre and shopping malls with a convention centre already taking shape, the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Anxious Masuka has revealed.
Addressing stakeholders at the Harare Agricultural Show launch, Dr Masuka revealed plans by Harare Agricultural Show to expand indoor exhibition space by at least 3000 square meters in line with country’s growing agriculture sector.
“We have plans to expand indoor exhibition space by at least 3000 square meters. We are building the Convergence dormitory which will be one of our biggest halls, and this will be completed just in time for the show.
“Additionally, we are doing extensions to Julius Nyerere and Nelson Mandela Halls which should add in-door exhibition space,” he said.
Masuka promised an exciting array of business interfaces including marketers breakfast dialogue, buy local discussion and school essays and quiz among other events during the 2018 Harare agricultural show week.
“An exciting array of business interfaces is planned during the show week, commencing on Monday with the Marketers breakfast dialogue and the Make Local – Buy Local Discussion and tour of the Buy Local Pavilion; the ZB-Wildlife and Environment Zimbabwe and ZAS schools essay and quiz competitions are on Tuesday.
“On Wednesday we have the NECF-ZAS Sixth Annual National Agri-business Conference; on Thursday we have the Chamber of Mines, Minex, MFF ZAS Mining-Agriculture Interface, running parallel to the Infrastructure, Energy, and Power Dialogue,” said Masuka.
He assured the nation of improved security at this year’s show following the adoption of modern technology including drone surveillance.
“Improved security through modern technology will be available, including the use of drone surveillance technology. Again gate entry fees will be at last year’s levels, so will be the exhibitor fees.
“We expanded gates entry by 60%, and have had positive comments about this development. But we had challenges with our electronic ticketing system, which we hope to overcome this year. We are currently working with local authorities to improve parking during HAS 108,” added Masuka.
