Government has changed salary dates for health workers following a directive from President Mugabe.
In a statement, the Executive Director in the health service board Ruth Kaseke said the new salary date has been moved from 14 July to 8 July.
“Further to our earlier communication where we advised that the June 2016 salaries for health workers would be paid on 14 July, please be advised that treasury has advised us that salaries for health workers for the month of June will now be paid on 8 July 2016,” said Kaseke in the statement.
Government had set aside $100 part payments for most civil servants, citing critical financial challenges, except for uniformed forces who were paid in full, but $100 advance salary move move backfired as workers have since gone on a national strike.
Health workers at major hospitals like Mpilo and Harare Central Hospitals have not been reporting for duty ever since government announced the part payment strategy.
