Govt to Identify Sporting Talents

In a bid to transform the national sports the government has appealed to corporates to identify sporting disciplines that require support.

Addressing stakeholders at “Tour De Great dyke”  launch held in Darwendale on Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Youth,Sports Arts and Recreation Yeukai Simbanegavi said government is committed to bring more athletes onto the international stage so as to uplift the country’s image.

“It is initiatives such as the Tour de Great Dyke which make it possible for this to happen. Sports organisations and individuals have always been given support from the corporate and what we witness today is part of that relationship between sports and business,” Simbanegavi said.

Simbanegavi said government will be support the development of cycling in Zimbabwe with the aim of positioning Zimbabwe as a top cycling destination.

“I would like to express my ministry’s continued support to the development of cycling in Zimbabwe with the aim of not only positioning Zimbabwe as a top cycling destination, but also to celebrate the mineral rich great Dyke,” added Simbanegavi.
