Gonyeti Apprehension A Sign of Chaos: Prof Moyo

Exiled former higher education minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo has weighed in on reports of popular comedienne, Gonyeti’s apprehension by security personnel saying it signals uneasiness in the ‘military-controlled government.’

Gonyeti real name Samantha Kureya was reportedly taken for questioning from her Mufakose home by CID Law and Order officers.

“CID law and order just took Bustop TV’s Samantha Kureya aka Gonyeti from her home. They say they are taking her to Harare Central for questioning. Spread the word,” said her co-star Sharon Chideu affectionately known as Magi.

Moyo said government skipping in panic over comic skits signals that all hell has broken loose.

“When jokes, let’s be technically correct; when comedy, in fact, let’s be constitutionally clear; when freedom of expression invites Gestapo visits from LAW & ORDER in an AUTHORITARIAN MILITARY STATE–which Zimbabwe has become–you must know all hell has broken loose!” said Moyo on a recent Twitter post.

Efforts to reach Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson, Charity Charamba, for comment were fruitless as she did not attend this publication’s calls at the time of publishing.

Another comedian, Prosper Ngomashi popularly known as Comic Pastor was recently called for questioning following a skit titled Bvunzai maGaffa which appeared to be taking a dig at President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Unconfirmed reports have it that Magi, Gonyeti’s co-star has also been called to report at Harare Central police station for questioning.
