The entertainment landscape has transformed since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This has seen musicians unable to host live shows which are their main source of generating an income. It is the arrival of innovations like the Gateway Stream Music mobile and web application that has created what seems to be the only opportunity for musicians and artists to host shows, for as long as the necessary lockdown restrictions remain in place for the safety and protection of the public. “This Friday Nutty-O and iShan will battle it out on the Gateway Stream Music virtual Pay Per View (PPV) Platform. The show themed “Cruise Control” takes off at 8pm.“ Tickets to watch the show are US$1 per person, this amount is also payable via all local mobile money networks – Ecocash, 1Money, Telecel etc.
Since launching in December 2020, Gateway Stream Music has successfully hosted four virtual shows. “The development of the Gateway Stream Music mobile and web application was premised on the desire to create a platform that empowers artists to manage their music enterprise. Most importantly for artists to be able to earn from their online performances. We encourage fans to download the Gateway Stream Music application or visit the website and sign up. Fans can support their favourite artists by buying tickets for the PPV show and fans can also buy their favourite artists’ music online.”
Isheanesu Chigagura aka “ Ishan” is a singer-songwriter and producer. He is originally from the town of Mvurwi. His song “ Kure” was a hit in 2019 which catapulted iShan to stardom. In the same year he won several awards some of which include Best Male Artist, Best Afropop and Best Newcomer in 2019.
Born Carrington Simbarashe Chiwadzwa, Nutty-O was born and raised in Mbare. According to Pindula he was the first Zimbabwean artist to be featured on Dj. Edu’s Afrodancehall show on BBC 1xtra with his track “Kwandabva Kure”. Nutty-O has performed alongside Jamaican dancehall sensation, Charly Black and has shared the stage with the likes of Mafikizolo. In 2016 he was nominated as the most promising Zimdancehall artist.
Gateway Stream Music has hosted PPV virtual shows for Janet Manyowa, Jah Prayzah, Winky D, Sulumani Chimbetu, Andy Muridzo, Anita Jackson and Poptain in the past two months.
What is Pay Per View
Pay-Per-View (PPV) means you’re paying to watch a live show online. It allows you to view the live-show online from the Gateway Stream Music App or website in real time from the comfort of your home. Because this is a live show, you view during the fixed duration of the show, once the show ends, your access to the content expires.
Gateway Stream Music Application
The Gateway Stream Music Web and Mobile Application is a platform that is built for both musicians and users. Musicians are able to upload their music, live stream their shows using the Pay Per View platform in the Gateway Stream Music App, set pricing, manage inventory, socialise with their fans and receive revenue for all purchases through a revolutionary wallet function located in the App.
A unique feature of the application is the socialisation capability where artistes can interact with their fans and share content in the same way as they would on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and WhatsApp.
The Gateway Stream Music App gives artistes access to consumers and ensures that they can earn revenue for their trade, reducing the risk of losing earnings through piracy. Gateway Stream Music is a subsidiary of Rainbow Tourism Group.
Users can look forward to listening to their favourite local music, buying music, livestreaming album launches and connecting with their favourite artists on the Gateway Stream Music App. The App is available from the Google Play Store for Android devices and Apple App Store for IOS devices.
