Gospel diva Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave has vowed to halt releasing albums any time soon citing little attention given to albums by radio stations.
She was speaking in an interview with 263Chat following the release of two videos for her single, “Kumusoro,”.
Fungisai stressed that she is not under any pressure to release an album considering that she already has 14 projects in her name.
“I have 14 albums on my belt, so there is no need to rush and release another album when people give attention to singles in albums.
“I realised and concluded in my own capacity that our radio stations look for one hit in a whole album. You will find that even when you have three good songs, Vanondibatirana, I Belong To Jesus and Amai Ndakanaka Amai in an album of seven songs, radio DJs will run with Vanondibatirana as if it’s the only good song.
“It then takes them time to discover other good songs in which I see no point of releasing an album. So, for now I will make sure I drop hit singles only because albums overwhelm DJs,” said Mashavave .
Speaking on the two videos out of one single, the 37 year old said she is living up to her calling of packaging the same message to different groups of people.
“My belief is, I have a calling and mandate to package the same message to different groups of people from different walks of life. Hence, the club version video for youths and family video for children,” she said.
