Four Touts Arrested For Manhandling Woman At Bus Terminus

Zimbabwe Republic Police have arrested four Beitbridge touts who were captured on a viral video harassing a woman at Dulibadzimu bus terminus.

In a statement this morning, ZRP said the four will appear in court today.

“The ZRP has arrested the four touts who were involved in the physical manhandling and harassment of a woman in a video which went viral recently. The incident occurred at Dulibadzimu Rank, Beitbridge. The touts will appear in court today,” the police said.

Police warned bus operators against employing touts saying passengers have a right to board vehicles of their choice.

“Passengers have a right to board public service vehicles of their choice without being manhandled or forced to board a particular bus or kombi against their will.

The government recently declared war on touts who have remained a menace to commuting public for a long time now.

Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Ministry and the Zimbabwe Passenger Transport Organization have been holding meetings with the relevant authorities to work out how the menace of touts can be eliminated.

Women Affairs Minister Sithembiso Nyoni told the media last week that the harassment of women by touts has no place in any decent society.

“Eventually we want to witness the removal of touts from all bus terminuses. Public spaces must be safe for all and it may be known that the law enforcing agents shall not deal with this lightly.
