Mwenezi East is set to conduct a by-election on the 8th of April 2017 to elect a Member of Parliament following the death of Joshua Moyo of the Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front (ZANU PF). The Nomination Court sat at Masvingo Magistrate Court on the 17th of February 2017 in terms of Section 46 of the Electoral Act (Chapter 2:13) to receive nominations of candidates who intend to contest for the by-election.
As at 16:15 hours, four (4) candidates had successfully filed their nominations namely; Kudakwashe Bhasikiti – Zimbabwe People First, Joosbi Omar – ZANU PF, Turner Nhango – Freezim Congress and Welcome Masuku of the National Constitutional Assembly (NCA).
