Foot and Mouth Impacts of Harare Agric Show Livestock Exhibits

The Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) has revealed that  all the 108th Harare Agricultural Show sections were fully subscribed though there was a reduction in livestock exhibits due to Foot and Mouth Disease.

ZAS also reported that show attendance increased by 19.6% up to 221 651 compared to 185 349 who attended the weekly exhibition festival during the same period last year.

According to ZAS statistics released today, total exhibition space increased to over 82 268 square metres, marginally up by 3% from last year.

“Commercial sponsorship support up 112%, compared to last year.Attendance at business interfaces up 300 % to 1325 delegates.Sixth Annual National Agribusiness Conference record attendance at 400 delegates, up 42 % from last year,” they said.

They added that they are trying to move from the Harare Agricultural Show” to the “Zimbabwe Agricultural Show” so as  to reflect the national character of the Show among other reasons.

“We are now moving from the “Harare Agricultural Show” to the “Zimbabwe Agricultural Show” so as  to reflect the national character of the Show, and to broaden and deepen transformation from viewing and using the show as a “display platform” to “an ecosystem of opportunities” for the public, sponsors and exhibitors,” they said.

This year’s agricultural show was running under the theme ‘From Field To Industry, Produce, Connect And Develop’ and President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is a ZAS patron was the guest of owner.
