Premier Soccer League has banned Farai Mujokoro and Gift Mvala, Bulawayo City Football Club Assistant Coach and Kit Manager respectively from any football related activities for five years after the two were found guilty of engaging in match fixing activities.
In a statement released on Monday, the PSL Disciplinary Committee noted that the two contravened provision of order 31.2.2 which state that it is an act of misconduct on the part of an official of a club: For any corrupt , dishonest or unlawful purpose in connection with a game played under the auspice of the league, or in connection with the affairs of the league, gives ,offers or promises, whether directly or indirectly, inducements , reward or bribes of whatsoever nature to whomever.
“It is lucid that Farai Mujokoro and Gift Mvala acted in common purpose to try and match fix the game thereby contravening provision of order 31.2.2 of the PSL Rules and Regulations.
“We thus find the Farai Mujokoro and Gift Mvala guilty, while Bulawayo City is not found guilty and thus it is acquitted,” noted the statement.
However PSL exonerated Bulawayo City Football Club from any offence saying they did not find any links between the actions of Mujokoro and Mvala to the club.
“There is no evidence whatsoever that links the Club to the commission of the offense. The mere fact that the other accused are employed by the Club and the Club would benefit from the offense is just but an unsupported allegation, which is not sufficient evidence to the commission of the offense,” further noted the statement.
Mujokoro and Mvala were asked to pay the costs of hearing by 30 November 2016.
