Movement for Democratic Change leader, Morgan Tsvangirai has declared himself fit to continue taking Zanu PF and President Robert Mugabe head on in the 2018 harmonized elections.
Addressing journalists in the capital on Thursday, Tsvangirai said he is still able to stand toe to toe with the Zanu PF regime and is rearing to lead the campaign trail for the watershed 2018 elections.
“To say I’m no longer able to run the party on the basis that I have not been attending demonstrations, is ill advised. If anything I’m very fit to lead this great party and I’m looking forward to the 2018 elections,” said Tsvangirai.
The former Trade Unionist who earlier this year confirmed to suffering from cancer of the colon boldly stated that his health condition will not deter him from fighting to end Mugabe’s 36 years in power.
Tsvangirai also took aim at people who have been questioning his absence from the demonstrations against bond notes and electoral reforms saying he is not obligated to participate in protests.
“I have been asked question on why I’m not attending the demonstrations, but I will ask them too, am I obliged to be attending the anti bond notes march demonstrations? I’m not obligated to be attending such events, we have our people who are representing us and when I think I can go, and then I will join them,” Tsvangirai said.
Concerns have been raised over Tsvangirai’s ability to continue lead his party ever since he made public his health condition. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment in South Africa and has been in and out of the country.
