After a long day at work, I finally got time to relax on my couch and scroll through my Facebook timeline and oh Thandi got engaged, my high school friend is pregnant, Tatenda just checked in at the OR Tambo airport and hold up.. WHAT IS THIS!
A Netone advert promoting ECOCASH?
The company’s recent customer service development has included their only competition into the loop. According to an advert that has been circulating on different online platforms, get this. You can now buy One Fusion bundles using EcoCash.
Honestly what a time, it seems Netone has finally eaten a large chunk of humble pie and bowed down to the mobile money giants EcoCash.
Just going through my EcoCash App I realised I do not even know the name of the Netone mobile app.
I think Netone can be forgiven for promoting an already successful EcoCash because to do anything in this cash strapped economy you need EcoCash which has revolutionised the way Zimbabweans transact.
It has brought much needed convenience to the people. What continues to boggle the mind though is the fact that Netone launched their mobile money service way before EcoCash was launched, and I am sure they relaunched it afterwards for the second time and they relaunched again for the 3rd time this year.
Hope they will not be relaunching it again in the near future as it has been launched so many times. This may actually be part of the reason why the product has failed to significantly take off.
I am sure the team at NetOne realized that for their One Fusion promotion to take off, they have to work with EcoCash which is reported to have almost 100% of the mobile money market share. Just wonder how this makes them feel though.
Good decision by Netone I must say, everyone really does want to be part of the winning team.
