Population Services Zimbabwe (PSZ) has opened its 11th clinic in the slum settlement of Epworth in a move that is set to increase access of sexual reproductive health in populated residential areas.
In his address at the official opening, the PSZ Country Director, Abebe Shibru said the newly opened Epworth clinic is a result of partnership with the private sector nurses and doctors operating in ten provinces country wide.
“We are expecting the Epworth clinic to deliver comprehensive health services to an average of 20 000 women on yearly basis,” said Shibru.
The Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Obadiah Moyo urged society to embrace modern family planning methods.
“We have to teach our population to embrace the long term methods and the demystify cultural connotations around them especially vasectomy,” said Dr Moyo
The clinic has youth hub with free wireless internet connection to attract youths.
In 2018 alone, more than 450 000 women received contraceptives from PSZ though access to long term and permanent methods is still limited national wide.
