Dynamos Ranked 19 on the continent

ZIMBABWEAN football giants Dynamos are now ranked 19th in the top 30 best clubs on the continent, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The list released by CAF yesterday revealed that Dynamos, who have won four consecutive domestic league titles and taken part in the CAF Champions League three times under era of the then coach Kalisto Pasuwa, have 494 points that earned then a place in the top 30.

Last season due to financial challenges ‘The Glamour Boy’ failed to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League and also decided not to take part in the 2015 edition.

Dynamos and South African top club Orlando Pirates are the only Southern African clubs that made it into the CAF top 30 club rankings with the later on 22.

Dynamos, who reached the final of Champions League in 1998, have made it into the top 30 list that is mostly dominated by top West and North African clubs.

Top of the list are Egyptian giants Al Ahly with 2,106 points, followed by Esperance of Tunisia with 1,503 points.

Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) giants TP Mazembe, who are home to former FC Platinum striker Ali Sadiki, are third, while their counterparts AS Vita are 15th.

According to the list, Tunisia produced the most teams with five, while their neighbours Morocco took second spot with four clubs.
Esperance are followed by Etoile Sportive du Sahel (5th) and Club Sportif Sfaxien (6th) also from Tunisia.

The top five of Tunisian clubs is completed by Athletic Bizertin who occupies the 30th place while Nigeria and Egypt have three clubs and DRC, Sudan, Mali, Algeria and Ivory Coast have two each.
