Author Chikoro and Wisbon Mudzedzereki teamed up to fatally assault a man who stole 33 maize cobs from their field in Mt Pleasant.
The two were dragged to court after severely beating Tamiraishe Maugara whom they caught axing maize cobs in a field.
The court heard that on Friday 26 February 2016, Maugara was caught coming out of a field in Mt Pleasant with a huge black bag in which he had hid the maize cobs.
The court also heard that Maugara sustained several injuries on his arms
Maugara who was caught red handed pleaded guilty before Harare magistrate court.
He said that he wanted to sell the maize cobs in order to buy mealie meal and some food for his family since he is jobless and has no-one who can help him put food on the table.
Upon mitigation, Maugara pleaded with magistrate Sabarauta for mercy.
Harare magistrate Sabarauta found him guilty but however let him walk away freely and warned him not to commit any crime again.
However Sabarauta ordered Chikoro and Mudzedzereki to pay $50 fine or risk going to prison for beating Maugara.
