Speaking at the Dreamstar press briefing recently, David said the talent show gave him a platform to market himself.
“Since I joined Dreamstar, my life has changed because it gave me an opportunity to realise and showcase my talent.
“I haven’t released an album yet but I perform at high platforms. I have also have performed at the state house in front of the presidents of Zimbabwe and China,” he said.
The 24-year-old musician also alluded to the fact that Zimbabweans are talented but are drawn back by lack of financial support.
He added that Dreamstar has helped in changing his story which would have been similar to that of possibly hundreds of thousands of artists in the country lacking support.
“There is a lot of talent in this country but the greatest challenge most youths are facing is lack of government support and assistance from the cooperate world.
“Dreamstar has given me an opportunity to record my first album which will be out soon. Dreamstar is also organising shows for me,” he said.
David added “apart from music, DreamStar is also paying for my academic studies and has given me a full time job.”
Speaking at the same platform, Chinese Deputy Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhao Bao Gang pledged to continue supporting Dream Star saying it is a bridge between Zimbabwe and China`s friendship.
“Dream Star gives Chinese the opportunity to know more about Zimbabwe and the reverse is true. The talent show is a bridge between our friendship.
“We will keep supporting Dream Star because it is also a platform for young Zimbabwean artists to change their fate and realise their dreams just like Nyasha David did,” he said
Jacaranda Culture and Media Cooperation (JCMC`s) artists’ director, Leonard Mapfumo says this year`s edition of the show will be bigger and better.
He said they now have an in house music studio to record artists with potential who may not necessarily make it in the top 10.
“This year`s Dreamstar Season 2 commenced on the 16th of September and we have done auditions in Masvingo, Gweru, Mutare and Bulawayo. We will be in Harare on the 23rd to the 25th of September at Long Cheng Plaza.
“Compared to the prior season, this season`s edition is proving to be very competitive considering that we now have our own studio and that we have a list of reputable judges like Richard Kohola, Sandra Ndebele, Trevor Dongo and Tererai Mugwadi,” he said
DreamStar is a talent search show managed by Jacaranda Culture and Media Cooperation JCMC which is supported by the Chinese Embassy and the Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe.
