Copa Coca Cola Finals Set For Kadoma

The small mining town of Kadoma ‘City of Gold’ is the place to be for this year’s edition of the Copa Coca Cola national soccer finals tournament.

A total of 24 teams, 12 boys’ and 12 girls’ teams will square off at two different venue with the finals set for the historic Rimuka Stadium.

The schools’ football extravaganza which burst into life on 11 July, saw Jameson High School playing host to the 12 girls teams while Rimuka High 2 hosts the boys teams.

Speaking to this publication,  Coca-Cola Eastern and Central Africa Program Manager Vee Chibanda said as the sponsors, they were expecting a much more competitive chapter of the games this time around.

“We are expecting another thrilling tournament this year. Every school wants to win this prestigious tournament and the competitiveness is growing with each edition.

“We have both seasoned campaigners and debutantes whose names are hardly known in schools’ football circles coming to the finals.

“That on its own shows how diverse and competitive the tournament has become,” Chibanda said

“As sponsors, we are glad to see the tournament living to its agenda, that of identifying soccer talent.

“What is most exciting is that we have managed to spread the game across the breadth of the country.

“Previously, urban based schools used to dominate but now rural schools are coming to the party, making it difficult for anyone to predict the winner,” said Chibanda
