Chitembwe Unfazed By TP Mazembe History

Zimbabwe Champions league representatives Caps United are not fazed with the history of their first round qualifiers opponents Tp Mazembe of Democratic Republic Congo, when the two sides clash in the first leg of the first round of qualifiers in Lumumbashi on Sunday.

The Zimbabwe  2016 league champions  qualified for the first round of the qualifiers after narrowly edging Lioli FC of Lesotho 2-1 on aggregate a fortnight ago.

The Green Machine, as Caps United is affectionately known by their legion of fans go into the match with  clean bill of health, a development which has raised the morale of the the team ahed of the crucial tie.

Yesterday the green machine did a press conference for their upcoming Champions League game. The caps united gaffer said “we are ready for the game because we have done a lot of homework and the players are reacting good going to the game.”

“We are not bothered that they have won the champions league many times, what is  important for us to focus on the job at hand and i believe with the commitment and  determination shown by the players no-one is fazed with their history,” he said.

The Green Machine gaffer added  playing the first leg in DRC would work in favor of the 2016 Castle Lager Premier League champions.

“It’s an advantage to us starting away because them being good at home we have not experienced and what I think is there are good football team and that is the reason why the boy have been working hard. We have also tried to match them because they are a competitive team,” said Chitembwe.

He said was also banking on his previous experience on the continent after having played for both the club and the national team in Africa before,

“My experience playing in the safari both level club and national teams has been an value to team because what is driving us is the desire to want to play at this level and it is our dream to compete with the best in Africa.”

Caps United are expected to  leave Harare for Lumumbashi Sunday morning with the match scheduled to be played at 1500Hrs.
