Chicken Slice boasts of a 95% local workforce in Gweru

Fast food outlet Chicken Slice, which has been in the eye of a storm for ‘shipping’ Harare employees instead of engaging locals at their new food courts, notably in Bulawayo, has this time around engaged 95 percent of locals according to Marketing and Public Relations Manager Bernadette Mutoko Mbauya.

One of the leading companies in the food industry, the company opened a branch in Gweru last Friday.

The storm further raged on Twitter, with ‘Twimbos’ urging the company not to shun locals.

Mbauya said save for senior supervisors who are from Harare, ‘95% of the workforce’ was from Gweru.

She however refused to divulge how much the company, owned by popular gospel artist Tawanda Mutyebere of ‘Ikoko’ fame, had spent on the latest project.

Food Express, a food company based in Gweru, also waged past a similar storm a few years ago for employing workers from the Midlands capital at their outlets, some as far as Victoria Falls also boasts of a 95% local workforce in Gweru.
