Chibuku Super Cup is back with a bang.
The mega money tournament will see teams that constituted the bottom four game in week 17 battling for a place in the round of 16.
The Cup which is sponsored to the tune of US$400 000 with the winner pocketing $75 0000 and a ticket to represent Zimbabwe in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup.
In round of 16, defending champions Ngezi Platinum will go into battle with Cup kings Caps United with Dynamos set to clash against Bulawayo City while Highlanders face Harare City.
Championship aspirants Chicken Inn will clash with winner between Yadah FC and Hwange while Black Rhinos will face off against Triangle. ZPC Kariba will play against Shabanie FC.
Speaking to 263Chat soon after the draw, Caps United Chief executive officer, Cuthbert Chitima said his team is taking the tournament seriously and are keen to retain their Cup Kings title.
“We are known as the cup king and this time we are not wasting any time, we want to beat Ngezi so that we may progress to the quarter finals.
“This is a done job because we have collected 4 points from Ngezi in the league and this a passport to our success in the first round of the Chibuku cup,” said Chitima.
Dynamos Chairman, Kenny Mubaiwa also expressed his team’s preparedness to add the Chibuku Cup to the list of trophies they will be chasing this season.
