Speaking during the draw in Harare this afternoon, Delta General Manager Tichafara Rinomhota said all the Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams were eligible to take part in the competition but the competition was designed in such a way that the bottom four teams as of week 17 were to qualify via preliminary stages.
“The preliminary qualifying matches are on this weekend. The two teams that will win will then join the rest of the teams in the competition to make them 16. This years’ competition has been sponsored to the tune of $1.5 million. The good news is that as major sponsors of football, we have already started negotiations with PSL to renew our contract that will run out soon, something that should come as sweet music in the ears of all football stakeholders,” Rinemhota said.
The first round of matches for this years’ competition will be played on the weekend of 28 and 29 September.
The quarter finals are set for 26 to 27 October while the semis finals will be played during the weekend of 9 to 10 November and the finals are slated for 30 November.
Venues will be made known by the PSL after consultations with the sponsors.
