The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Alliance Presidential candidate, Nelson Chamisa has ruled out chances of his party forming a government of national unity with President Emmerson Mnangagwa saying he learnt lessons from how the late Morgan Tsvangirai was dribbled during the 2009-2013 inclusive government.
Addressing thousands of supporters at Rimuka Grounds in Kadoma on Sunday, Chamisa accused Mnangagwa of failing to provide leadership adding that he leaked a letter he wrote to him to Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Media, Information and Broadcasting Services, George Charamba.
Chamisa said he wrote a letter to President Mnangagwa a couple of months ago in a bid to find common ground with the Zanu PF leader in the run up to the harmonized elections.
“He is failing to provide leadership, I said as a leader of the most popular party in the country come let us meet out of courtesy, I would also love to meet Mugabe also he is a former leader, elders of the nation must be respected since I am young leader of this country”?
“After writing him a letter out of courtesy to show leadership and magnanimity and maturity, He is not mature what does he do, he took it with George Charamba and published it in the Herald saying Chamisa has wrote to us perhaps he wants a unity government, me uniting with you, what would I have lacked?” said Chamisa.
He added that he learnt his lessons from how the late MDC-T President, Morgan Tsvangirai was treated during the inclusive government.
Chamisa further revealed that Mnangagwa dribbled the opposition leaders including the late Morgan Tsvangirai who gave refugee to Victor Matemadanda and other war veterans at the height of Mugabe’s wrath on Mnangagwa’s allies.
He said Tsvangirai had suggested to Mnangagwa to institute a National Transitional Authority following the removal of Robert Mugabe but Mnangagwa decided otherwise.
“Tsvangirai said, since Mugabe has resigned let’s have a National Transitional Authority in unity while breathing life to the country, preparing for an environment that will lead us to a credible election, but he ran away with Matemadanda who used to stay at Tsvangirai’s house all the time and other war veterans, ” charged Chamisa.
