The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League week seven was full of shocking results as Harare Giants succumbed to a 3-0 defeat by Chicken Inn at Rufaro Stadium and struggling CAPS United defied all odds when they humiliated Bulawayo Giants 1-0 in their own backyard.
Dynamos enter into the match as the favourites as they had conceded just one goal, in their previous league games, when CAPS United’s George Nyirenda manage to score against the Harare Giants in a Harare Derby that ended in a one all stalemate.
The host dominated the first half when they launched a series of attacks in the visitors goal area which they failed convert and they were punished just before the half hour mark through Mitchell Katsvairo. Chicken Inn struck again twice in the second half through Edmore Chirambadare to seal off their victory against the Glamour Boys.
The loss saw Dynamos drop from second place on the log-standing to third place with 14 points after Triangle dismiss Harare City 3-1 at Gibbo Stadium to claim second place with 16 points, whilst Chicken Inn maintained the top spot with 18 points.
In Bulawayo it was almost a similar case as Highlanders back-pedalled throughout the match with players failing to combine well and losing a lot of possession in the midfield. CAPS United took the advantage of Bosso’s sloppiness and punished them through a Steven Mukatukwa’s header in the 26th minute.
Despite the problems haunting CAPS United that almost saw them failing to travel to Bulawayo they managed to beat Bosso in their own backyard and Makepekepe gaffer Mark Harrison was pleased with the results.
“Our playing, our movements and the chances created were fantastic, this is the most important goal for our team,” said the Englishman.
Bosso coach Bongani Mafu was a disappointed man as he lost for the second time at home this season and the fans are putting pressure on him to turn the tables around.
“We need to score goals and then from there we can build team confidence. It is disappointing to lose another match at home,” said Mafu.
On Saturday How Mine walloped debutants Whawha by 6-0 at Luveve Stadium, whilst FC Platinum dismissed Tsholotsho 3-0 at Mandava Stadium. At Gwanzura Stadium the match between ZPC Kariba and Flame Lily ended in a one all stalemate.
On Sunday Triangle bounced back to their winning ways to beat the Sunshine Boys 3-1, whilst Buffaloes draw two all with Chapungu and it was the same result at Colliery Stadium between Hwange and Dongo Sawmills.
