Bread Price Up Again

The price of bread is set to go up again as bakeries struggle against constant rise in price of inputs, 263Chat can reveal.

According to a leaked letter from Lobels Bread Regional Sales Manager, Zenzo Malunga to OK Zimbabwe, with effect from tomorrow, a standard loaf bread will be sold at a wholesale price of $2.00 forcing the retail upwards to $2.20

“Please be advised that the price of lobels bread is going up with effect from 27 November as follows Standard Prime White wholesale price is $2.00 recommended retail price will be $2.20, Standard High Fiber wholesale price is $2.00 and recommended retail price is $2.20, Standard whole wheat wholesale price is $2.00, the recommended retail price is $2.20, Standard whole meal wholesale price is $2.00 recommended retail price is $2.20.

“This has been necessitated by the constant rise in input costs.May you please effect the necessary adjustments within your stores,” read part of the letter.

According to Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) chairperson, Mr Tafadzwa Musarara, low supply of wheat on the international market is forcing prices up.
