Zimbabwe will take on hosts Bangladesh in a four-match T20 series to be held in Khulna from January 15, the BCB announced on Tuesday. This will be Bangladesh’s longest T20 series, and used as preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup T20s and World T20.
The BCB had been saying for the past couple of weeks that the T20 series would be played in Khulna and Sylhet, but since Sylhet will be used during the upcoming Under-19 World Cup, the Zimbabwe series will be played only in Khulna.
The BCB’s cricket operations committee had earlier proposed to include a Test match in this tour, but the BCB president said that Zimbabwe were keen only to play T20 matches. It is now likely that Bangladesh will tour Zimbabwe in June or July to play up to three Tests pending from the original series between the two teams in January. The two teams had played a three ODIs and two T20s in November.
The BCB did not confirm the match timings for the four T20s, to be held on January 15, 17, 20 and 22.
