A 79 year old man from Chief Chinamora appeared in court today for two counts allegations of forcing a miner to have sexual intercourse in the bush.
According to the state, Antonio Vashco Sokololani met the 12-year-old complainant one morning in July 2019 in Chief Chinamora village while she was on her way to school and told her that some woman had called to meet with her in the bush.
Upon arriving in the bush, Sokolani ordered the complainant to have sexual intercourse with him, threatening to axe her if she denied. Fearing for her life, the complainant, whose name is being withheld since she is a minor agreed.
On the second count, the accused used the same trick and waited for the accused person knowing her way and time from school.
He then told the complainant to follow him to the bush and forced himself on her. However, two witnesses saw the accused person taking the complainant into the bush and followed him.
The witnesses ran and lifted Sokolani on top of the complaint who continued with her shameless act despite being caught red handed.
Sokolani was denied bail and advised to approach the High Court.
His trial date has been set to 15 August 2019.
