Arise Zimbabwe! Arise Zimbabwe!

“A vapid and vacuous party political oligarchy that is devoid of history, morals and probity” Chris Mutsvangwa describing ZANU (PF).

By Vince Musewe

I couldn’t agree more with Chris here, he certainly has a way with words although, of course, we all are a bit wary from whence this comes.

My message to President Mugabe et al is that our youths who make up in excess of 60% of our population have had enough they want change now. Not tomorrow, not next year but today. They don’t want running battles with the police, they don’t want to sell airtime for a living, they don’t want to stay at home with their parents because they can’t afford a flat, they don’t want to be poor, unemployed and hopeless. Surely there is nothing wrong with that because their success is the country’s success?

Even if we were to ask our fallen heroes what they died for, they would feel exactly the same. They sacrificed their lives so that future generations would live a better life than they themselves did under Ian Smith and yet today that young generation is worse off. Therefore, if there is any third force at play, it is the anger and dismay of the millions of our hopeless youths who have now arisen. That was bound to happen.

The sanctions excuses will not work anymore, blaming imaginary detractors will not work anymore. The claim that the West is driving the change we want to see is a fallacy, a myth, a persistent and unrealistic lie which has become so boring and vacuous. Rather it is our deferred dreams and hopes which are fuelling the freedom we must now demand. There is no going back and the sooner ZANU (PF) realises this the better. You can crush dissent but you cannot crush an idea whose time has come.

If supporting #This Flag, #Tajamuka-Sisijikile,#Occupy and many other progressive forces which have emerged from their slumber is a crime, then I am guilty and so are the millions of our youths including pseudo ZANU (PF) members who cannot wait for change, but cannot speak out because they are true cowards caught up in a vapid system devoid of any morals and probity.

As millions of Zimbabweans deliver their message to this political oligarchy that enough is enough this week through the #ShutDownZim on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th July, let us all remember that we are doing this for Zimbabwe, its people, their dreams and hopes and for posterity. We are not doing it for any individual or for any politician, but we are doing it to free ourselves from the abuse which we have accepted as normal for far too long.

They can try to beat us, arrest us or try to abduct us, but our freedom and self-determination has been a long time coming.

Zimbabweans have arisen! Thank God we have arisen!
