Change of mindset is needed to appreciate African handicrafts says Advocate Jacob Mudenda. Speaking to our #263Chat team during the CODEPA Conference of Ministers hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Cooperative Development last week in Bulawayo, the Speaker of Parliament said it was high time Africa starts embracing local handicrafts and preserve the African legacy.
He went on to add that Africa is rich in handicraft talent and its high time all governments start investing in the local artists since their artwork resembles our local culture and can contribute towards a positive GDP through exports. The Speaker of Parliament also went on to urge the unemployed youths to venture into handcrafting since it involves practical skills which can be mastered in a short period of time and start earning some income.
