Three human rights defenders Takudzwa Ngadziore, Makomborero Haruzivishe and Allan Moyo have approached the Harare Magistrates Court challenging their continued placement on remand in a case in which they were arrested and charged with ‘inciting public violence’.
The trio filed a refusal of further remand application through their lawyers, Obey Shava and Jeremiah Bamu of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).
The matter was however postponed today after the state delayed responding to the three human rights defenders application for refusal of further remand.
State prosecutor, Lancelot Mutsokoti has since undertaken to file a response by tomorrow, Tuesday 23 March 2021 with Harare Magistrate Barbra Mateko expected to deliver her ruling on on Thursday, 25 March 2021.
“The state has made an undertaking to file a response by tomorrow morning, they had not yet responded to our application,” said Bamu, one of the lawyers representing the trio.
The three have been on remand for over a year but the state has not yet offered a trial date.
