Don’t Complain About Cash Crisis, Vote For Me: Mnangagwa

President Mnangagwa has rallied Zimbabweans to vote for him in the 30 July harmonized elections saying he should not be judged on his ability to solve the cash crisis as he is working very hard to adjust the country to a cashless economy.

Addressing stakeholders at the Buy local Summit Presidential dinner in Gweru last week, Mnangagwa said the world is moving away from using cash hence his government’s efforts to align the country to the rest of the global community.

“I know most of you are complaining about cash, we are moving away from cash but still vote for me, developed economies are now cashless so we cannot go where they came from but where they have gone and that’s where the world is going.

“My government is committed to support local industry and continue facilitating an environment that encourages the growth of the private sector,” said Mnangagwa.

He challenged local businesses to have a positive disposition towards the diversification of shareholding structures

“To this end, l challenge the private sector on its part to be alive to their obligation to grow the economy. You are all key to the realization of our national vision to be the middle income country by 2030,” added Mnangagwa.

Mnangagwa also urged the business community to shun corruption saying the economy should be built on honesty, diligence, hard work.

“As we grow our business, let us shun corruption, bribery, dishonesty and pilfering tendencies as these have negative effects on business profitability and sustainability.

“Our economy should be built on honesty, diligence, hard work with the accompanying business intelligence and prudence,” he said.

Meanwhile Buy Zimbabwe held its 8th Buy Local Summit in Gweru last week, an event aimed at rallying the country towards a deliberate preference of locally produced goods and services.

Group Chief Executive Officer, Munyaradzi Hwengwere said the event, held under the theme, Building Competitiveness and Retaining Domestic Preference in an Open Economy seeks to entangle all the business opportunities and challenges prohibiting country efforts to build national competitiveness for sustained economic growth.
