As preliminary results started trickling in last night, some Zanu PF bigwigs including cabinet ministers fell by the wayside in the ruling party’s primary elections held over the weekend.
Speaking to state media Sunday evening Zanu PF national political Commissar Mike Bimha confirmed that results were trickling in with the party receiving complaints which an ad hoc committee will be set up to consider.
“Results have now started trickling in. We should have all the results in the 10 provinces by tomorrow. We have also received complaints and we hope that the ad hoc committee will meet tomorrow to consider those complaints,” said Bimha
In Chikomba West, Mashonaland East province Health Deputy Minister John Mangwiro lost to Tatenda Mavetera whilst Industry and Commerce Minister Sekai Nzenza lost to fellow Minister Felix Mhona (Transport) for the sole ticket to represent Chikomba East.
Deputy Ministers Jenfan Muswere, Kindness Paradza and David Musabayana also lost.
Parliamentarians Philip Chiyangwa, Enock Porusingazi, Joseph Chinotimba, Fortune Chasi, Dexter Nduna and Simbaneuta Mudarikwa lost in their respective constituencies.
In Manicaland Province Minister of State and Devolution Nokhutula Matsikinyere lost while in Mashonaland West Mary Mliswa was defeated in the Hurungwe West.
Meanwhile, football administrators Farai Jere of Caps United and Herentals Football Club owner, Innocent Benza, won the right to represent the party in the Murehwa West and Mutasa Central constituencies respectively.
Women’s Affairs Minister Sithembiso Nyoni won the right to represent the ruling party in the Nkayi North Parliamentary elections beating four others.
