Sunningdale Constituency legislator Winnie Kankuni has officially handed over a public toilet to the City of Harare.

The public toilet which is in Sunningdale 3 was constructed using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF)
Speaking at the handover ceremony of the toilet in Sunningdale today, Kankuni paid tribute to council officials for their support during the construction of the toilet.
“The journey has not been easy, I would like to thank council officials from the District Officers and everyone involved in the construction of this toilet. Ablution facilities are essential for our communities and it had been a toll order for this community especially the business community to be operating without toilets. I take pride in this and happy to leave a mark during my tenure as Member of Parliament,” said Honourable Kankuni
In her acceptance speech on behalf of the City of Harare, Sunningdale District Officer Sheila Chikomo said thanked the legislator for channeling the CDF towards sanitation.
“We want to appreciate the efforts by Honourable Kankuni, we are grateful. We have seen in some areas the CDF being abused but she has meaningfully utilised it towards a worthy cause. We believe that the facility will help the business community and residents in this area. Ablution facilities are an important component in any set up. The construction of this facility will help in maintaining the hygiene that has been existing in our community,” said Chikomo
Ward 10 Councilor Hammy Madzingira also gave thanks to the legislator for what he said a wonderful gesture by the Member of Parliament.
Resident and former Ward 10 Councillor Musa Macheza said the construction of the toilet had paved way for development in the area.
“Development of the shopping centre had been partially approved because there were no toilets. The few shops that are operating were given the greenlight because we felt a big community like this cannot have shops but it stalled development of other facilities that are essential to the community. Now that the toilet has been constructed and handed over to council development can now commence and we are grateful to this cause,” said Macheza
